The Giver: Team A.R.C.H.

Today's literature circle was very interesting. Although two people in are group did not hand in there work we had a little discussion about chapter's 13 - 16.

Main events and points -
1. Jonas gets real pain from a memory.
2. Gabe sleeps through the night in Jonas's room.

3. Jonas accidentally gives Gabe a memory of a calming sail on a lake.

    Hey Anna,

    I have read The Giver so many times and it is one of my favorite books! My question for you is, why do you think Jonas's parents (and all of the other people in his community) don't understand love? What do you need to do or experience in life to "get" love?

    Well Ms. Vance, I think no one understands love because no one is really related and when no one is related there is no family and no love.

    Interesting.... How do you define related? What about people who are family but are not blood related? For example, my mom is adopted, and she's my Nana's family.

    If they gave birth to the babies that they would then raise, would the people in Jonas's community be more capable of feeling love?
